03/11/2009 Double win for Team Tarrès - the title for Patrice Milesi !

History repeated itself during the GT90’s Revival Series at the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit this weekend, as the Tarres Auto Saleen S-7 dominated both races with drivers Marcel Tarres and Florent Moulin stepping onto the top of the podium, along with Patrice Milesi, who finished 2nd with his Porsche 993 GT2, and Christian Philippon who was classified third with the Chrysler Viper GTS-R. Unfortunately, his co-driver, Franck Labescat, missed the event after hospitalised on Sunday morning, but we are pleased to report that he is recovering well and promptly.
The racing conditions were ideal on this first day of November: the sun was shining and the public were obviously enjoying the event, admiring the cars and drivers.
The Tarres Auto Saleen S-7 was on pole for the 1st race with Marcel Tarres taking control of the GT1 beast; Christian Philippon was 2nd with the Chrysler Viper GTS-R and was overtaken by Patrice Milesi who was on 3rd position with his Porsche 993 GT2. Unfortunately Bobby Verdon-Roe’s Lister Storm which experienced calliper issues and had missed the qualifying sessions, could not take part in the races; other technical issues prevented Franck Jacob, who won the 2008 GT90’s Revival Series with the same car, to compete with the Chrysler Viper GTR-S. Finally the Marcos LM500 entered by Mike Sweeney team and driven by Steve Keating and Ian Astley experienced brake problems and despite working hard on the car most of Saturday night, this stunning racing car remained in the pit. A few cars were imposed a drive through penalty for missing the pit stop window which then had a real positive impact for the 2nd race as not a single car made that mistake !
Despite enjoying a great battle with Cedric Mezard in his Ferrari 360 Modena G and Michel Mhitarian Lamborghini Diablo, Niki Nayar’s Venturi 400 Trophy suffered from gear box problems and had to retire from the 2nd race. Yves Saguato and Philippe Chevallard made very impressive progress, starting from 8th position on the grid and finishing 4th with the legendary Chrysler Viper GTS-R nº92.Philippe Chevallard was the second fastest driver on the track, behind the Saleen, setting a lap of 2.16.3, compared to his best qualifying time of 2:22 !
The 2009 GT90’s Revival Series Champion was celebrated on the final podium of the weekend with Patrice Milesi winning the season thanks to both experienced racing style and great determination.
We sincerely thank our competitors for their trust, their support and their faithful participation. The 2009 season was very exiting, enjoyable and we believe in a bigger, greater 2010 season which calendar and concept will be soon revealed.
